Confidence Check
A first step before purchasing replica medals, restoring original medals, or framing a display
Confirm what's been passed down.
Many of our customers come to Rosemary Trails because their medal mounter, framer, or RSL sub-branch require a medal verification certificate before processing their order.
The Confidence Check certificate is designed to fulfil that requirement, and also provides an excellent foundation for descendants researching their veteran's service independently.
When you're ready to start, the process will be quicker if you have your veteran's full name, service number, and photographs of medals or service documents available.
The starting point as your family's history caretaker
Tell us what you believe your ancestor earned, share any photos or documents you have, and within 2 business days we'll compare your information against our research database and official Australian service records.
If your information matches, you'll receive a dated digital Confidence Check certificate listing the verified medal entitlements. This certificate is suitable for sharing with family, and should be provided to your medal mounter or framer.
If our initial research reveals any discrepancies, we'll let you know. If you're in a position to make sure your veteran's entitlements are corrected, we can do the archival work on your behalf in line with changing eligibility criteria, guide you through often intimidating official processes, draft official correspondence where required, and deliver an accurate dated digital certificate as well.
The legacy is yours; the expertise is ours.

About the certificate
Each Confidence Check certificate is dated and stands as a record of verified entitlements at the time of issue.
Australian service records continue to evolve as families come forward with documentation, errors are corrected, and new entitlements are recognised. A dated record gives every descendant who comes looking, whether now or 3 generations into the future, a clear point to verify against.
Who this is for
The Confidence Check is designed for descendants of Australian veterans - WW1, WW2, BCOF, Malaya/Borneo, Korea, Vietnam, even Boer War service.
It's also suitable for British ancestors with WW1 or Boer War service.
If you're not sure whether your ancestor's service fits, submit anyway and we'll tell you.
Note: We don't verify British WW2 service due to the 1940 bombing of the War Office Record Store in London. For British WW2 enquiries, we recommend the UK Ministry of Defence directly.
